Manufacturing Post-16

This publication, from the Technology Enhancement Programme (TEP), helps students to understand the manufacturing process through a series of design challenges. Each has a specific brief and the topics include: • Designing and making a helping hand • Robotics: designing and making a walking robot • CAD/CAM: designing and modelling an adjustable rake steering column • Batch production: designing and making a paper perforator There are also a series of student study files which cover the following areas: • Design for economic manufacture and assembly • Concurrent engineering • Quality and quality assurance • Quality control: inspection techniques • CNC machining • Clamping devices • Computer integrated manufacture • Types of manufacturing systems • Economics of materials processing • Controller for an animatronic toy
