Global child mortality

This Core Maths task explores the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (set in 2000).

The resource asks students to use data to consider if the UN millennium goal to reduce the under-five child mortality rate by two-thirds by the year 2015 has been realised.

The teacher guidance provides a number of links, including to data for students to use. It is suggested that this data is given to students before it is required for a lesson. Use of a spreadsheet is essential. The final outcome could be for students to present a report of their findings.
