This textbook from the Technology Enhancement Programme (TEP) is intended to introduce students to making electronic devices and systems. It looks at important electronic components and how they can be put together to perform useful tasks. How to design and make electronic circuits is aided by descriptions of how components are assembled together with some basic rules about assembly.

There are a range of activities, that include designing and making:
• a moisture sensor
• an alarm circuit
• an electronic timer
• an infrared lock.

Study files are included which contain instructions to help students develop skills in a range of activities including:
• Making printed circuit boards
• Soldering
• Using multimeters
• Investigating bipolar transistors

Finally, there are a range of data sheets with information on electronic components such as:
• Transistors
• Integrated circuits

• Relays
