Big Bang Evidence

Produced by Twig, this animated video looks at evidence for the Big Bang Theory. This includes descriptions of: * Hubble's observation of a red shift, which is evidence for an expanding universe. * The distribution of cosmic microwave background radiation, which was discovered in 1965 and is consistent with radiation produced by the Big Bang being spread in all directions. * The abundance of lighter elements in the Universe, which suggests that these first elements (hydrogen and helium) were formed at the Big Bang and are the precursors for all other elements. The video is visually attractive and the narration is both informative and accessible. It is suitable for secondary school students and would be a useful introduction for post-16 students.

A good overview, yet the explanation of red shift is a little simplistic, it would be useful to discuss the spectra of stars/galaxies etc moving, also how the wave is stretched due to space expanding. Look at the science@esa vodcasts http://sci.esa.int/science-e/www/object/index.cfm?fobjectid=44686 episode 4 for some more information, you need to go to 3 min 26 if you just want the Red shift explanation.
