Let There Be Light
This resource provided by Siemens contains three lessons which link to various aspects of energy production and electricity. The lessons are:
- The magic of making electricity - Pupils find out how electricity can be produced and used. They look at examples of hand crank technology and they also identify the advantages and disadvantages of this method.
- Moving water - Looks at the advantages of a water wheel to power a generator. Pupils then construct and test simple water wheels.
- Not one house but a whole town - Discusses the advantages of electric lighting over gas lighting, and explores the use of parallel circuits.
The resource includes a presentation, notes on running the activities and related worksheets.
