Planetary Scientist

Sheila Kanani is a PhD student at University College London (UCL), and analyses data from a spacecraft currently orbiting Saturn. This Department for Education clip gives students insight into the world of space science.

Sheila describes how her involvement in space science has taken her to Russia, to see cosmonauts training, and Australia to work in the Outback. Her future options include working in research, industry or possibly as a lecturer or teacher.

Sheila says, "Physics is directly relevant to my research subject. There's so many things you can do with physics. I was also inspired by British-born NASA astronaut Michael Foale and wanted to become an astronaut like him, and I knew I would need science and maths to get there.''
