Practice Book 4b

These materials, produced by the Centre for Innovation in Mathematics Teaching (CIMT) for the primary extension of the Mathematics Enhancement Programme, include the pages from Practice Book 4b with detailed lesson plans and all necessary resources to accompany them. It follows on from Practice Book 4a.

Students are introduced to equivalent fractions and begin to add and subtract fractions with the same denominator, then using diagrams with different denominators, as well as calculating more challenging fractions of quantities and converting fractions to decimals. They apply their knowledge of number to solve problems and are introduced to negative numbers, while probability is explored through fair and unfair games and experiments.

There are daily lesson plans covering weeks 17 to 35 and each plan is complete with teacher and student activities, together with key questions and references to the pages in the practice book.
