An interview with a Stem Ambassador.

1.Question- Why did you become a Stem Ambassador ?

Answer- I enjoy teaching science subjects and meeting teachers and their pupils.

2.Question.- What do you do as a Stem Ambassador ?

Answer- Sometimes I recount my career path- research scientist, a librarian and for many years teaching in different schools. Other times an activity may be suggested by the teacher. For example, making an aeroplane wing.

3.Question- What is your most memorable experience ?

Answer- A visit to the Institute of Physics. Some ambassadors brought equipment which was used in their work and the students enjoyed examining the different items.

 

A Short History of Wimbledon.

1880s

With the Gentlemen’s Singles swiftly proving a success The Championships expand in 1884 to include competitions for Men’s Doubles and Ladies Singles. Maud Watson beats her sister Lilian to become the first female Champion. Two dominant players emerge, Lottie Dod in the ladies' singles and William Renshaw in the gentlemen’s. By now crowds are up to 3,000.
