Route Core Element 6 - Diversity and Inclusion

This resource list has been created to support the T Level Technical Qualification in Digital Support Services.

This section of the specification covers diversity and inclusion. RCE06 covers the importance of diversity and inclusion in the workplace and digital inclusion issues in society, it concentrates on the current issues you may encounter in the workplace and wider society and also covers what measures can be put in place to address these issues, e.g. legislation, government and organisational initiatives.

This lesson will introduce learners to the way the workplace has changed over time. This includes an overview of traditional and modern work practices; how flexibility is achieved through 24/7/365 availability; and how modern technology facilitates inclusivity and accessibility for all stakeholders. This is related to R6.2 and R6.4.

An introduction to the 2010 Equality Act, the video covers the main points contained in the act and can be used as a module introduction to provide context. This video relates to R6.1

A discussion on the importance and benefits of digital inclusion. This video provides real world examples that highlight the main points regarding digital inclusion. This video has relevance to R6.4.

A video covering the strategies that could be used to provide digital inclusion for all. It provides a strong message that is “with the skills and passion of our people, we’re bridging the digital divide to ensure technology is an opportunity for everyone, creating a more inclusive future for all”. This video will provide inspiration for the coverage of R6.3.

The aim of this resource is to provide an introduction into digital accessibility and inclusion, it provides links to legislation, research data and videos from industry. This resource can be used for coverage of R6.1 and R6.4.

This webpage provides valuable insight into how diversity and inclusion can promote and enhance innovation and drive market growth. It includes research data and findings from 1,800 professionals, 40 case studies, and numerous focus groups and interview data. This resource can be used for coverage of R6.2.

Using examples of good practice and findings from research employers are starting to recognise that creating a diverse and inclusive workplace is not only the morally right thing to do, it is also great for business. This resource provides research data, videos and examples from the workplace and is related to R6.2 and R6.3.

The intention is for the checklist to act as a guide for any organisation involved in helping people go online. In other words, if you do these things, you’re doing digital inclusion. This resource provides examples and advice that will help underpin knowledge gained in R6.3 Approaches to addressing demographic imbalance in the digital sector.
