BEST (age 11 to 14) diagnostic questions adapted for age 7 to 11
Some diagnostic questions from BEST 11-14 have been adapted for use in primary science (age 7-11). The development and adaptation of these diagnostic questions was part of a pilot study which was funded by the Salters’ Institute.
The diagnostic questions can be used as formative assessment and are intended to help you collect evidence of what children are thinking, including:
- which science ideas they understand
- preconceptions and misunderstandings they have
The evidence provided by the diagnostic questions can help you decide what to do next.
