James Webb Space Telescope - Secondary Resources

This collection of resources has been written for design technology teachers to use primarily as part of the curriculum in lower secondary schools.  The resources also include a guide to the James Webb Space Telescope , written for teachers and STEM Ambassadors.

All activities include elements of design that are linked to the Webb Telescope - either using physical materials or CAD models.  Editable PowerPoint files are included for the teacher, along with pdf guides for each resource.


Surviving Space Temperatures

When the James Webb Space Telescope is deployed it will have one side which continually faces the Sun and is warmed by the Sun, and one side which does not face the sun. The cold side of JWST houses scientific instruments which work better if they are at a low temperature, so a sunshield is used to keep the equipment...
