This collection of resources is produced by the Core Maths Support Programme to support the implementation of Core Maths. The collection contains a range of activities all designed to enable students to use and apply algebra and graphs in unfamiliar contexts.


Business assessments

This resource contains two Core Maths assessments appropriate for students of business. The assessments, that cover number, finance and graph topics, are:

This Core Maths resource looks at the recently developed technique of rehydroxylation for dating ceramic objects using an exponential growth model. The resource allows students the opportunity to apply their knowledge of growth and decay, along with logarithms, to a genuine scientific process.


Do Vampires Exist?

In this activity students consider a population growth problem which leads to a power series. The presentation can be used to introduce the topic and use of spreadsheets would enable students to model and draw graphs of the situation.
