Case Studies in Personalised Healthcare
The resource consists of case studies which explore the ethical questions that arise for people using health services and provides background information, lesson notes, suggested activities and discussion questions. The three case studies are:
- Personal genetic profiling for susceptibility to disease
- Buying medicines online
- Health information websites
An ethical values information sheet sets out the five important ethical values that the Council reported should be considered in relation to personalised healthcare. This resource can be used with the case studies for discussion in the classroom. The curriculum-linked resources are from the Nuffield Council on Bioethics and have been designed for Key Stage Three and above in science, ICT, PHSE and philosophy.
