Studies in awareness of science: teacher's book
This teacher's book is part of a course for scientists and non-scientists in sixth forms or in further education, which is designed to increase awareness of current scientific issues and to increase the student's ability to communicate those ideas to others.
The material is designed to complement and contrast with other studies in the sixth form or further education. For non-scientists, it is intended to increase the awareness of scientific issues and can be used in an AS or General Studies course. For scientists, the topics, which are complementary to most A-level syllabuses, can be used to help them communicate scientific ideas.
The course consists of this teacher's book, a student's book and two option books, which offer six topics each, couched in the form of controversial questions (for example, will the Universe expand for ever?, and is altruism inherited?). The teacher's book includes an outline of the course, suggested strategies for the use of the materials, and notes on the activities.
