Run by our Science Learning Partnerships, and with conferences taking place all around the country, our secondary science conferences provide outstanding learning opportunities linked to topical developments in secondary science teaching.


STEM Club conference

Date: 9 May 2017

Venue: National STEM Learning Centre

Do you run a STEM Club or are you thinking of setting one up in your school? If so, this conference is perfect for you. Not only is this a fantastic chance to meet and share ideas with like-minded professionals, you will also discover a range of resources, activities and organisations that can support your STEM Club.


ESERO-UK secondary conference

Date: 1 June 2017

Venue: Manchester Central Convention Complex

The perfect chance to bring the world of space into the classroom, ESERO-UK’s annual secondary conference is taking place alongside the UK Space Conference. Not only will you get the chance to learn about exciting advancements in space technology, such as the upcoming James Webb Space Telescope, you can also explore the hundreds of stands and exhibitions at the UK Space Conference.


Computing conference with CAS Regional Centre for Yorkshire and Humber

Date: 30 June 2017

Venue: National STEM Learning Centre

In collaboration with Computing at School (CAS) Regional Centre for Yorkshire and Humber, this year’s computing conference has something for every teacher of computing. With dedicated sessions suited for both primary and secondary teachers, the conference will be presented by a variety of experts and knowledgeable Master Teachers.


National technicians’ conference

Date: 6-7 July 2017

Venue: National STEM Learning Centre

From molecular gastronomy and data logging to electronics and 3D glass working, the National technicians’ conference has a range of optional workshops for you to attend, giving you the opportunity to attend the sessions most relevant to your needs.


Summer school for newly and recently qualified teachers

Have you recently completed your NQT year and would like to further develop your teaching skills? If so, this summer school is the one for you. Take the time to reflect upon your practice and discover new and exciting practical activities you can take back to the classroom.


Practical work summer school

Starting your first job in teaching science is exciting, but can also seem daunting. It can be challenging to teach outside of your specialism, especially when it comes to effective practical work. That’s where the Practical work summer school can help. Get support in planning, carrying out and evaluating effective science practicals across key stages 3 and 4.


New to teaching A level mathematics summer school

If you are new to teaching A level mathematics, come along to our summer school and develop a deeper understanding of the subject. In conjunction with MEI and the University of Sheffield, increase your confidence in teaching for understanding and engagement, rather than teaching to the test.
