People Like Me campaign: opening doors for girls in STEM
Built to inspire girls to study and forge career within STEM sectors, the campaign is led by WISE board member Professor Averil MacDonald and is sponsored by Network Rail.
Recent research from Engineering UK has shown that currently less than 1 in 8 of the engineering workforce is female, and other research has found similar findings across all STEM subjects and careers.
To encourage more females into STEM-related studies and careers, WISE is working alongside Tech UK on an aspiring plan to reach 200,000 girls, showing them how STEM subjects can open doors to a range of jobs to suit their personality type.
People Like Me is a ground-breaking resource and will offer training courses to teachers, STEM Ambassadors, careers advisors and others working with young people to show girls that people just like them can thrive and succeed.
