See how we and Tomorrow’s Engineers came together to transform careers education

Marie Jobson, Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEAIG) Lead at Churchill Community College in North Tyneside spent five days with five employers as part of our STEM Insight programme.

Our STEM Insight programme focuses on developing the knowledge of STEM careers for staff who work with young people. Schools have the ability to transform students’ perspectives about careers and ensuring that they are well informed about career and study paths is crucial.

Marie’s experience at each business allowed her to make contacts, understand what STEM organisations do and what they look for in young people to develop the future workforce.

“The tours of each business were fantastic and it was excellent to speak to as many employees as possible about their own routes into the organisation… The investment from all companies in creating a programme of activities, tours and staff to talk to was incredibly valuable…” – Marie Jobson

From this experience, Marie was able to plan a series of assemblies and workshops that explore the different routes from further study to apprenticeships to provide students (and tutors) with the information they need for the future.
