The UK’s most ambitious conservation project is asking the public to grab their cameras and share the nature that lives around them.
The Back from the Brink Film and Photography Competition is seeking entries from across the UK to tell the story of the nation’s wildlife and environments. From rock pools to ponds, balconies to back gardens, fields to forests, soil to sky, nature is everywhere.
Whether it’s your first time behind the lens or you’ve been refining your skills for a while, the competition is open to all - apart from full-time professionals! If you fancy yourself as a presenter or prefer to capture the action in a single still image, there’s a category for everyone.
About Back from the Brink
Back from the Brink is a project where, for the first time ever, Natural England and a partnership of seven conservation organisations including RSPB, Plantlife and Butterfly Conservation, are working together to bring back from extinction some of England’s most threatened species of animal, plant and fungi.
The project aims to save 20 species from extinction and benefit over 200 more through 19 projects that span England; from the tip of Cornwall to Northumberland.
The film and photo competition has been launched in partnership with Wildscreen, the Bristol-based conservation charity behind the internationally-renowned Wildscreen Festival.
Prizes
As well as receiving a bunch of nature-related goodies, winners will see their films and photos feature in a series of free public Back from the Brink festivals being held in Liverpool, Exeter and Bristol this coming Autumn.
The competition closes on Friday 30 August 2019.
