Deadline for applications extended: 5pm on 14 February 2018

Open to all state-funded secondary schools, the Polar Explorer grant award is for those wishing to improve the transition in STEM subjects from primary to secondary.

The award of £2,500, focuses on the following four areas:

  • science leadership
  • quality of collaboration between science teachers
  • involving pupils in science activities during the transition
  • ensuring continuity and progression in the science curriculum and pedagogy

Schools are encouraged to work collaboratively with their chosen state-funded feeder primary schools and complete both a short self-evaluation of their current work, and a forward action plan.

Full access to the FREE Polar Explorer programme educational resources is a key element of the project.

Successful applicants will benefit from a day of CPD at the National STEM Learning Centre, in York on Friday 16 March 2018, exploring further ways in which the Polar Explorer programme, and our wider STEM related support, can support you and your primary feeder schools.
