BBC micro:bit delivery date confirmed for students
The BBC have been working hard to develop the BBC micro:bit, which will be delivered to Year 7 students across the UK. This project is the biggest BBC Education project in 30 years.
Over the past few weeks, teachers have been receiving their own devices to use before they are delivered to their students. The BBC have said that the reaction they have received about the micro:bit has been overwhelming, with many teachers contacting the BBC directly to express their delight at the simplicity of the device.
It has been announced that the delivery of the micro:bit to students will begin on Tuesday 22 March. Schools will receive an email when their devices are on the way. Enough micro:bit devices will be delivered to give one to every Year 7 in the school, in addition to some spares and some to use as a classroom resource.
There is still time to apply for your school to receive the BBC micro:bit. Visit the BBC website for details on how to register.
As a partner of the BBC micro:bit project, the National STEM Learning Centre and Network are offering teaching resources and CPD activities to help you make the most out of your devices in the classroom.
