As much as you might like to run additional educational activities that enrich and enhance the curriculum, in a time of constrained public finances it’s often not possible to find the money. The Royal Institution’s STEM enrichment and enhancement grants can help.
The Royal Institution is the home of the Christmas Lectures, the Faraday Museum and the L’Oreal Young Scientist centre, where there is a rich programme of public events and educational activities.
And as part of meeting their charitable objectives, the Royal Institution make grants of up to £500 available to less advantaged schools to help fund specified STEM activities.
Selected from the STEM Directory, activities can range from shows and talks to workshops and team-based challenges.
All activities are designed to integrate STEM activities into school practice and to support teachers’ professional development. They enrich and enhance pupils’ experiences by going beyond the curriculum, and often cannot be easily delivered with standard school resources.
Grants are awarded on a yearly or twice-yearly basis and the next grant scheme opens on 25 September 2017 and closes on 31 October 2017.
