Registering for an account
How do I register on the STEM Learning website?
To register for an account, click on ‘Register’ and complete the short registration form.
You will shortly receive a verification email. Click on the verification link to complete your registration.
I haven’t received a verification email. What should I do?
Check your computer’s junk mail or spam folder, if you still can’t see the email please contact us for assistance.
I’ve tried the verification link and it won’t work. What should I do?
If the verification link isn’t working, copy the link into a different web browser, such as Google Chrome or Internet Explorer. If this doesn’t work, please contact us.
I’ve forgotten my log in details. What should I do?
A new password can be requested on the ‘Sign in’ page. An email will be sent to you with further instructions on how to change your password.
How can I update the details on my profile?
Once you are logged in to your account, your personal details, such as your email address, password and employment details can be updated on your dashboard.
How do I opt out of receiving emails from the STEM Learning website?
To stop receiving emails from the STEM Learning website, go to your dashboard and click ‘Edit preference information’. Uncheck the ‘Receive content follow-up notification emails’ box.
Booking CPD activities
How can I find a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activity?
You can search our CPD programme page by location, subject, role, age range or title.
If you can’t find exactly what you and your organisation need, please get in touch to organise some bespoke CPD.
Where are the CPD activities held?
CPD activities are held at the National STEM Learning Centre in York and at various Science Learning Partnerships around the country.
Can I book on behalf of others?
Yes, once on the booking page, untick the 'I am attending' box, and fill in your colleagues details. Once the application is complete, you and your colleague will both receive emails. Your colleague will then need to complete their registration.
I have made a booking but have not heard anything. What should I do?
If you have not heard anything about the CPD activity you have booked onto, it may be that your registration isn’t complete, or your account is not verified. Check your emails (including junk and spam folders).
If you are still having problems, please contact us.
Can I cancel a booking?
In certain circumstances it may be possible to substitute a colleague at no extra cost, or to transfer to an alternative date of the same CPD activity.
All cancellations or transfer requests must be made in writing (via email) a minimum of 21 days prior to the start of the course.
If a booking is cancelled within 21 days of the activity start date, or if the participant(s) fails to attend the activity, the full fee remains payable.
Support available to help you attend
Many CPD activities have bursaries attached to them, which can help to cover the course fee and any associated costs. Bursaries are available to state funded schools and colleges in the UK.
How do I find resources?
Use the search bar to find resources related to your area of interest. Resources can also be browsed dependent on your subject area, or alternatively you have the option to browse all of the resources.
The filters on the right hand side enable you to filter by subject, age and key stage.
How can I keep up to date with resources?
Once you have registered on the website, you can sign up to receive monthly eNewsletters to keep you up to date with new resources, useful news and insightful blogs. These updates will be tailored to your particular areas of interest.
Do I need to register to access resources?
The majority of resource collections do not require you to log in to the site, however there are some collections that are only available to registered users.
I would like to share my resources with others. How do I submit these?
Registered users are able to share their own resources via our community resources. This can be done through your dashboard by clicking 'Add a new resource' in 'My resources'.
I'm having problems opening certain resources
Problems with viewing certain media files may be due to the browser you are using. You may wish to try and open these resources in a different web browser.
My organisation would like to submit resources
STEM Learning is committed to helping resource providers disseminate their STEM resource materials to teachers and lecturers. Please contact us if you would like to discuss building a collection.
What is a community group?
Community groups are places where members may hold discussions, exchange ideas and share resources.
How do I opt out of receiving group digest emails?
If you would like to amend how often you receive group digest emails, or would like to stop receiving them altogether, simply go to the group page and click on ‘Group Preferences’.
The National STEM Learning Centre
Where is the National STEM Learning Centre?
The Centre is based in the North section of the University of York campus. The full details of how to find us can be found here.
Is there parking available?
Pay and display parking is available in the North campus car park. There is also alternative pay and display parking across the University campus.
Will I have access to WiFi?
STEM Learning is part of the eduroam service providing seamless WiFi services for all participating users. We broadcast the eduroam SSID (Service Set Identifier) throughout the National STEM Learning Centre building and Franklin House.
Access is also available through the Campus CityConnect service, which only requires your email address for registration and login.
