New scheme aimed at supporting technicians launched

The Technician Commitment launched at the Higher Education Technicians Summit (HETS) at the University of Warwick.

HEaTED has been the leading provider of professional development and networks for the technical workforce for almost a decade, working to support and promote the recognition, career development, visibility and sustainability of the UK technical workforce.  The Technician Commitment represents a significant step forward in ensuring support and investment in this key group of professionals. HEaTED are working with the Science Council and the Gatsby Charitable Foundation as an official Resource Partner for the Technicians Commitment to ensure signatories are able to deliver on all key areas of their pledge.

We have created a comprehensive guide to how HEaTED is working to support signatory organisations and their technical workforce across all areas of the Technician Commitment.

Dr Katherine Forsey, HEaTED's Membership and Networks Manager, said:

"We are thrilled that many of the first Technician Commitment signatories are already members of HEaTED, further demonstrating their best practice and practical, ongoing, support for the development of their technical teams.

Via our face-to-face network events and comprehensive CPD offer, HEaTED provide clear operational opportunities to deliver on the technicians commitment promise. We hope all higher education institutions will become Technician Commitment signatories and look forward to the opportunity to support them and all technical professionals within their organisation."
