STEMgineers Build and Drive Electric Go-Kart Workshop
STEMgineers: Build & Drive Electric Go Karts presents students with a truly unique educational experience. This workshop has been developed with an industry-leading aeronautical engineer and is aimed at offering students an insight into engineering and mechanics by building an electric go kart from instructions.
Students will use our bespoke instructions and work under the guidance of an engineer to build the vehicle from the chassis.
As they progress through the build they will see how the inner workings of electric vehicles function and develop an understanding of the mechanics and engineering that goes into automobiles.
Once complete and safety checked, students will be given safety gear and tuition to drive the vehicles at 8kph, 16kph or 24kph depending on conditions, confidence and skill level.
Learning includes:
-
Electric motors and their mechanisms
-
Rack and pinion steering systems
-
Hydraulic braking systems
-
Gearing and transmission (inc differential)
Suitable for students in KS3, KS4 and KS5. A large open outdoor space is required to operate the vehicles at more than 8mph.
The workshop requires a full school day to ensure students can build and drive their vehicles. We recommend up to 5 students per vehicle for best experience.
Cost: £1,297/day ex VAT
