National College for High Speed Rail Taster sessions

By Design Group

The National College for High Speed Rail has appointed Learn by Design to recruit and run taster events at the Doncaster and Birmingham Campuses. In total, 12 events are planned to take place from November to April.

HS2 will create 25,000 jobs at it’s peak and taking this in mind, it’s more important than ever to promote the innovative skills that the National College for High Speed rail are encouraging young people to study in order to stem the potential skills gap.

The National College for High Speed Rail is the largest of five national employer-led colleges created by the Government to help British students develop world class-skills. The college is a state-of-the-art training facility built on two new campuses in Birmingham and Doncaster and has been funded by The UK Government, The department of Business, Innovation and Skills, The Department for Education, The Department for Transport, The Skills Funding Agency, HS2, Birmingham City Council, Doncaster Council, Greater Birmingham & Solihull LEP, Sheffield City Region LEP, West Midlands Combined Authority and The Midlands Engine.

With the ability to learn in a real work environment on a former Eurostar power car and dedicated workshop consisting of rail track, railway bogies and overhead land equipment, leaners can combine traditional learning with the very latest digital technologies.
