Design an App in a Day
Our Design an App in a Day course is a fantastic way to introduce students to the world of App Development whilst also fostering their creativity and employability skills.
Throughout the day students will work in teams of between 3-5 to design and begin to build an app that solves a problem they care about. Students will go through a process of ideating, thinking about the user and mobile features needed and eventually designing what their app would look like. The day culminates in students presenting their ideas to industry professionals in a Dragon's Den style pitch to gain feedback on their idea and public speaking experience. Industry Expert Volunteers are present throughout the day to provide guidance and advice to students as well as providing a careers talk about what a career in STEM could look like.
The day is very flexible and can be adapted to your school / college's needs. Where technology is available we can incorporate an activity where students will begin to build and code their app on laptops. We primarily deliver this workshop in schools however occassionally may be able to facilitate delivery in a corporate office. The day will be facilitated by a member of Apps for Good staff and supported by Industry Expert Volunteers from some of our corporate partners.
After a course, students show an increase in technical and non-technical skills with:
99% showing improved problem solving skills

94% improved their product design skills
