Competitions and challenges
Getting students involved in competitions and challenges are a fantastic way of engaging them with STEM subjects, whilst building their confidence, teamwork and practical skills.
Whether they form part of your lessons or are completed during STEM Clubs, pupils of all ages can get involved.
CyberCenturion is a national cyber education initiative that challenges 12-18 year-olds in the UK to use their technical skills and knowledge to undertake a cyber security challenge.
The program is designed to excite, educate and motivate students to pursue further education and careers in STEM and cyber security, helping to build a diverse talent pool to supply the UK’s workforce needs.
AGE RANGE: 12-18
A CanSat is a simulation of a real satellite, integrated within the volume and shape of a soft drink can. The challenge is to fit all the major subsystems into this minimal volume.
CanSat is a European Space Agency competition, providing practical experience of working on a real space project. The winner is invited to compete in the European CanSat competition.
AGE RANGE: 14-19
Mission X is an international educational challenge that focuses on health, science, fitness and nutrition and encourages pupils to train like an astronaut!
The challenge involves a set of physical and educational activities, developed by space scientists and fitness professionals working with real astronauts!
AGE RANGE: 8-12 (but open to all ages!)
