Competitions and challenges

Getting students involved in competitions and challenges are a fantastic way of engaging them with STEM subjects, whilst building their confidence, teamwork and practical skills.

Whether they form part of your lessons or are completed during STEM Clubs, pupils of all ages can get involved. 



    Students are invited to take part in the Ultimate STEM Challenge.

    BP, in partnership with STEM Learning, is inviting UK students aged 9 to 14 to use their STEM skills to tackle one simple challenge: reimagine a solution to a real-life problem.

    AGE RANGE: 9-14

    A CanSat is a simulation of a real satellite, integrated within the volume and shape of a soft drink can.

    This competition offers a unique opportunity for students to have a practical experience of a real space project.

    AGE RANGE: 14-19

    A collection of one-hour lessons and five-hour challenges across the STEM subjects and for STEM Clubs looking at the use of the Internet of Things.

    These resources introduce upcoming technologies that will soon be part of everyday life.
