Properties of Numbers

This series of interactive excel sheet explores the properties of numbers. New questions can be generated each time by the click of a button. To check the answers click on the smiley face.

The first sheet contains a 10 by 10 number grid in which the odd and even numbers can be highlighted. Three questions exploring addition of evens and odds can also be generated.

In the second sheet the multiples of 2 to 17 can be highlighted on the number grid to show the patterns they create and stimulate a discussion on common multiples and factors.

In the third sheet select a number between 1 and 150. From a bank at the bottom of the page students then have to find all of the factors for the selected value.

In the fourth sheet 19 values have to be placed in an overlapping Venn-diagram according to their factors.

The next two sheets look at the divisibility of a set of nine randomly generated values. The first sheet looks at dividing by 2, 4, 5, 10 or 100. The second divides by 3, 6, 8, 9 or 25. The divisibility rule for each value can be revealed each time.

In the final two sheets students have to decide if the answer will be odd or even based on three examples of either addition, subtraction of multiplication.
