eZero Island (14-16)
This resource challenges students to design an energy plan for an island so that it can become self-sufficient and to consider not only how but also why they might want to do that. Students must design an energy supply system for the island that does not rely on fossil fuels. As well as making decisions about how to provide energy they have to consider the pollution caused, the reliability of the supply, how easy it is to store and how easily it can be regulated to allow for fluctuating demand.
Curriculum links include energy transfers and alternative energy sources.
