Sum of Two Fractions Equals Their Product

This prompt asks whether the sum of two fractions can ever be equal to their product.

Lesson notes 1 give suggestions as to supplementary questions that could be asked to provide support for students investigating this prompt and leads into generalising the problem using some higher level algebra.

Lesson notes 2 suggest a more structured approach to using the prompt using headings of orientation, exploration, planning, solving, reflecting and evaluating.

Mathematical notes 1 considers conditions required for general cases to work leading to some conjectures.

Forms of reasoning considers two distinct approaches taken to explore the prompt whilst the Reflection sheet is an example of an assessment sheet that can be used with the prompt.
