5 day placements are available with Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, Living Seas Centre supported by a £1000 ENTHUSE bursary.

The final part of the programme is a one-day professional development experience, held 4 to 6 months after your placement.

This opportunity is suitable for primary, secondary and FE teachers or those with additional responsibility for careers.

Yorkshire Wildlife Trust is a regional environmental conservation charity. For more than 70 years, they have been saving wildlife and wild places, increasing people’s awareness and understanding of the natural world, and deepening people’s relationship with it.  They work on land and sea, from hidden valleys and coves to city streets.  Wherever you are in Yorkshire, their people, places and projects are never far away, improving life for wildlife and people together, within communities of which we are a part.

A placement at the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust Living Seas Centre will provide insight into conservation science – both formal and ‘Citizen Science’ and survey techniques for different aspects of our marine and coastal environment – both wildlife and human impact. 



Going on a placement at Yorkshire Wildlife Trust Living Seas Centre will help you to:

• Inspire your students –See first-hand the wide range of careers available to students in conservation science.
• Build strong links with a local employer – connect with a local employer to develop staff and student experiences, with the aim of creating a longer term partnership. Gain ideas for future collaboration (e.g. work experience, mentoring, speakers) and develop your own understanding to inspire your students to consider STEM careers and further study.
• Enhance your advice on careers options– gain useful information about how to support students to make careers choices within STEM, taking into consideration
