Summary

 It can often be difficult finding suitable practical work for A level chemistry that is engaging and effective. This course has been designed to bring together a range of engaging chemistry practicals to match the A level specifications, for technicians to review and take back to their institutions.

The course has been developed on five main strands to make sure its relevant to technicians, these five strands include, where to source the equipment, how to set it up, how the practical runs in the classroom, scientific background to the practical, health and safety and the use of technology in the classroom.

This chemistry course will explore and examine a range of relevant practicals including some of the key core A level practicals, oxidation of alcohols, reaction rates and catalysts, aspirin, chemical handling and spectroscopy.

This is a residential course, fees include meals and accommodation for the duration of the course. Course fees vary for participants outside the UK. Please contact enquiries@stem.org.uk  for more information.

Outcomes

You will be able to:

  • describe effective practicals and new technologies that support students working in chemistry
  • develop new chemistry skills and knowledge in practical work
