Inclusive design thinking with Fixperts TV208
Learn how your students can use inclusive design thinking to solve problems that matter with Fixperts
Fixperts is an award-winning, hands-on learning programme that challenges young people to use their imagination and skills to create ingenious solutions to everyday problems.
This one day course will look at how teachers can challenge and disrupt the design and technology classroom through implementing inclusive design thinking into their lessons. You will try out for yourself the range of activities available from Fixperts, exploring how inclusive design, risk-taking, ideation and disruptive technologies can be brought into classrooms in exciting and meaningful ways.
Fixperts excels at engaging learners in solving problems that matter to them, giving them a reason to care about their STEM education. Shorter workshops and activities can be used to introduce pupils to ideas about social and inclusive design, problem identification, iterative design and evaluating ideas with a user in mind. In its fullest form, a Fixperts project can be run over multiple weeks as part of a design, technology, engineering or STEM scheme of work.
Fixperts can also be run as an engaging STEM activity for STEM Clubs and STEM days.
The course is delivered by Minnie Young, an expert associate at Fixperts, who brings her years of design and technology classroom experience to Fixperts team. You will also have the opportunity to work with a recent design graduate, providing a valuable insight into the mindset, skills and knowledge needed for young designers today.
You will be able to:
develop an in-depth understanding of human-centred, inclusive design thinking approaches in the design industry
explore techniques for adapting the Fixperts method to work for your pupils in your school, no matter the resources, subject or ability level of your students
leave this course with a resource pack and methods for making problem-solving relevant, accessible and rewarding to your pupils
