This CPD activity takes you through the principles of app design, giving you lots of hands on time to develop your skills using the software.


Summary

Students use apps all the time both in and out of school. How can we use this interest to help drive progress in our lessons?

This course takes you through the principles of app design, giving you lots of hands on time to develop your skills using the software. We will explore different teaching techniques that you can use to make it work for you and your students and see examples of student work that has been created.

Any teacher and / or teaching assistant involved in supporting the computing curriculum, with no or little experience of creating apps will benefit from this course. All equipment will be provided.

This is a residential course, fees include meals and accommodation for the duration of the course. Course fees vary for participants outside the UK. Please contact enquiries@stem.org.uk for more information.

Outcomes

You will be able to:

• develop your own ability to create mobile apps using freely available app design software.
• develop techniques for teaching app design, both with and without a  computer.
• gain a deeper understanding of where App design fits within the Computing curriculum.
• create a portfolio of App design activities for use back in school.
