The final part of the programme is a one-day professional development experience, held four to six months after your placement.

This opportunity is suitable for primary, secondary and FE teachers or those with additional responsibility for careers.

Carnival UK is part of Carnival Corporation & PLC, the world’s largest travel leisure company. Carnival UK has a combined fleet of over 100 cruise ships across a number of diverse cruise brands.

A placement with Carnival UK will build understanding of the range of career opportunities available within the cruise industry. You will have opportunity to spend time with employees from different departments, working from the Carnival UK head office in Southampton. Where possible, placements will include a short tour on board a cruise ship and opportunity to learn about the careers on board. The placement will also provide information on the Carnival UK Education programmes, and the ongoing training provided for the on board teams.

Going on a placement at Carnival UK will help you to:
• inspire your students – see first-hand the wide range of careers available to students in the cruise industry, with a specific focus on careers available at head office and on board cruise ships.
• build strong links with a local employer – connect with a local employer to develop staff and student experiences, with the aim of creating a longer term partnership. Gain ideas for future collaboration (eg work experience, mentoring, speakers) and develop your own understanding to inspire your students to consider STEM careers and further study.
• enhance your advice on careers options– gain useful information about how to support students to make careers choices within STEM.
