Explore the work of The Wellcome Trust and The Francis Crick Institute on an exciting five-day placement that will show you the vast range of science and science related careers open to your students.
Placements are available with The Wellcome Trust and The Francis Crick Institute, supported by a £1000 ENTHUSE bursary.
The placement will comprise one and a half days with Wellcome Trust, and a further three and a half days with the Francis Crick Institute. You will spend time with different teams across both organisations exploring a range of science related careers.
The final part of the programme is a one-day professional development experience, held four to six months after your placement.
This opportunity is suitable for STEM teaching professionals and/or professionals with additional responsibility for careers.

The Francis Crick Institute is a biomedical discovery institute dedicated to understanding the fundamental biology underlying health and disease. The Crick brings together 1500 scientists and support staff working collaboratively across disciplines, making it the biggest biomedical research facility under a single roof in Europe.
A placement with the Wellcome Trust and The Francis Crick Institute will give you the opportunity to explore a range of projects and enterprises and find out what happens operationally to keep the organisation up and running. You will find out how the science funding process works, how the Wellcome Collection fits with The Wellcome Trust’s mission and discover more about the education programmes that The Wellcome Trust has created and sponsored. Your time with the Crick Institute will be predominantly lab based, working with a researcher in a scientific research environment.
Going on a placement with The Wellcome Trust and the Francis Crick Institute will help you to:

- build strong links with a local employer – connect with a local employer to develop staff and student experiences, with the aim of creating a longer term partnership.
