Demo day NY728

Prepare for British Science Week with our hands-on activities for physics, chemistry and biology.

Summary

With British Science Week fast approaching now is the time to start thinking about the demonstrations you can use to engage your students in science.

British science week runs from 9 to 18 March and as part of the week teachers and technicians are encouraged to perform demonstrations for students that highlight science in an informative but fun way.

To get you ready for it we have organised a special one day event for teachers and technicians that will prepare you with a range of demonstrations. It will also get you thinking about your demonstration and performance skills and what makes an effective demonstration.

On the day there will be dedicated sessions for physics, chemistry and biology demonstrations, some new ones and some old favorites with a twist or two led by our team of professional development leaders. Sessions will include effective demonstrating, how to add to the performance, health and safety and why demonstrate in the first place.

Outcomes

You will be able to:

  • describe and evaluate a range of demonstrations across all three sciences
  • develop their demonstration skills
  • build confidence in performing demonstration to students
