Developing digital skills in science and D&T SL900 / YA01
Summary
This course will build your confidence in using technology to support curriculum learning in science and D&T while developing digital skills in learners.
You'll explore classroom examples using technology to support working scientifically and develop subject knowledge in science topics. You'll learn how to use crumble devices to design and make products, which can be programmed and controlled. Enabling you to support pupils in applying their digital skills to science and D&T projects. You'll also learn how to use computer-aided design with pupils to generate, develop and model designs for products and how this can support them to develop prototypes.
You'll complete two fantastic courses, ‘Developing digital skills through D&T' and 'Using technology to support primary science'.

Subject Leaders of science, D&T and computing in primary schools, classroom teachers with an interest in developing use of technology in these subjects
What topics are covered?
Using technology to support primary science:
Develop confidence in using technology to support teaching and learning in primary science
Explore how digital tools support working scientifically including bringing science to life, simulations, using micro: bits to log data, data handling.
Explore how to use technology such as AR (Augmented Reality) and simulations to bring science to life in some harder to reach topics.
Using alternative recording methods such as video creation and time lapse to record learning in science.
Developing digital skills through D&T:
Maximise opportunities for learning in both D&T and computing through projects using digital technology such as the Crumble Controller and computer-aided design
Explore how to use Crumble in your classroom to design and make products, which can be programmed and controlled
Learn how to use Crumble software to program the device to control switches, buzzers, motors, LED lights and more.
Using CAD, (computer-aided design), to generate, develop and model designs for products and to develop prototypes.
