Summary
Physics in the Capital is for all secondary teachers in London who deliver Physics content to students. We welcome specialists and non-specialists teaching key stages 3-5 and encourage anyone who attends to share anything excellent they do within their practice. It is run in partnership between the Stimulating Physics Network (SPN) and Institute of Physics (IOP).
The goals of Physics in the Capital are:
• To establish a strong network of Physics teaching enthusiasts across London
• Ensure that all people who teach Physics have access to appropriate support
• Keep teachers up to date on current developments in Physics education
• To share best practice within our community
The meeting has a soft start at 16:30 with tea, coffee, and some 'Physics bits' to start conversation. We formally start at 17:00 to allow all teachers across London appropriate time to travel.
In the second meeting Ben Wilkins (SPN), Catherine Cooper (SPN) will run sessions showcasing great practice in the teaching of waves and inclusivity in the curriculum. Mark Robinson who has created https://mymarkingmachine.com will showcase his resource and highlight the potential of AI to aid automated marking. The event is free, and we are keen for teachers of all experience levels to attend, if you are new to the profession and puzzled about how best to tackle forces come along, if you have been mastering A-Level teaching for 20 years and have wisdom to share - come along!
