This fully funded network is open to all primary schools in the South Yorkshire region.

Each face to face session will focus on a different strand of science and will include:

  • Practical activities linked to the National Curriculum
  • Progression and practical science
  • Cross curricular links
  • Raising the profile

The sessions will be facilitated by Rachael Cuthbert and April Taylor.

Rachael Cuthbert is Chief Education Officer for St. Mary's Academy Trust, Barnsley, leading school improvement across nine schools. She is also a Senior Professional Development Leader for STEM Learning, and College Fellow of the Primary Science Teaching Trust. Rachael is passionate about developing middle leadership within schools, knowing that the best resource to the children we serve, is the staff that teach them. Time and expertise invested in our teachers, can only lead to children flourishing and reaching their potential.

April Taylor has been teaching for nine years and leads Science across the ACET teaching trust in South Yorkshire. April is a Lead Professional Development Leader for STEM Learning and an experienced Senior Mentor for Sheffield Hallam University. April brings a wealth of experience when delivering CPD to colleagues and wants to share her passion for the STEM subjects by creating links with local partnerships to benefit all young children.

Outcomes

You will be able to:

  • develop a suite of science activities that can inspire and engage young learners
  • develop a toolbox of ideas for science investigations that can be woven into the primary curriculum
