Using diagnostic assessment and feedback to teach students to work scientifically at GCSE SP102 / EA03
Summary
What can we learn about formative assessment from a Nobel Prize winner in Physics?
Inspired by the methods of Prof Carl Wieman, Dr Branch has undertaken a full analysis of GCSE AQA questions focusing on student's practical skills and working scientifically and has developed diagnostic assessments and resources for feedback on these skills for use by students, teachers and department. In this face to face twilight with Dr Richard Branch and Ben Wilkins we will discuss working scientifically concepts such as precision, resolution, accuracy and many more and how to use these diagnostic assessments to teach and give feedback on these concepts.
