Summary
For Norfolk and Suffolk schools only. All other bookings will be cancelled.You will reflect on literacy-related reasons for underperformance in science, and how best-practice literacy teaching can overcome these problems. You will develop practical approaches that are known to work well in science - from using keywords, to reading and understanding exam questions, and developing structured extended answers (esp. around AO2/3 and core practicals).

Outcomes
You will be able to:
- describe what constitutes effective teaching and learning with respect to literacy
- use an increased repertoire of teaching and learning strategies to enhance students’ literacy skills
- identify the contexts in which students will use exploratory talk and active reading strategies
- reflect on the barriers to good writing
- demonstrate an awareness of the range of writing styles required in science and how they can be developed
