Key Stage 3 for non-science specialists

This course is designed so that you will be able to teach KS3 science confidently whilst developing a repertoire of practical activities and embedding working scientifically in your everyday teaching.  The course contains a specific focus on teaching each of Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

Behaviour management in science

During this training you will look at how you can develop your classroom style with strategies to create a positive learning environment: helping to encourage all students to engage with science and make progress in their learning. Students have a unique challenge in their science lessons: they require high levels of literacy and numeracy skills but will also need to manipulate and learn from practical activities. You will see how to manage the challenging situations that may arise because of the range of potential distractions and hazards in a science laboratory.

Health and safety for ECTs or non science specialists

Support those who are new to teaching science with the fundamentals of safe and effective practical work. We will cover what is needed in a school lab, how to produce risk assessments that help you and others do the practical well and give you support in dealing with things that can go wrong.
