Secondary Science Conference:Enhancing the Science Curriculum RM227 / B10
Summary
Join us for the annual Kent & Medway Secondary Science Conference – an event designed to support, enthuse and inspire science teachers at all stages of their careers.
Keynote Speaker: Robin Ince
Although not a scientist, Robin Ince has written several science books and is well-known for his radio appearances with Professor Brain Cox on The Infinite Monkey Cage. Robin was not interested in science at school but has since become fascinated by it. Robin is also a stand-up comedian so expect an engaging presentation as he explores reasons for his disinterest at school and the factors that have changed his attitude.
Finding the Optimum: Eleanor Belfield
Ofsted have restarted the publication of subject reports which outline the quality of subject education found in schools. The subject reports follow on from the already published research reviews which consider the evidence for a high-quality subject education. The science subject report was the first of the series of subject reports to be published. HMI Eleanor Belfield, Ofsted Science Lead, will draw out key messages from ‘Finding the Optimum’. She will invite delegates to reflect on the findings and what they mean for curriculum design and delivery as schools continue to address the challenges following the pandemic. There will be an opportunity to ask questions.
