Summary
Come and join the Stimulating Physics Network coaches and colleagues at this free North West physics network event.
In this session we will look at how you can use the Best Evidence in Science Teaching resources to help you be more aware of the physics content of the key stage 2 curriculum to enable you to plan a well sequenced key stage 3 physics curriculum and assess students’ prior knowledge.
You will be able to try out different activities that help diagnose whether students hold common misconceptions.
We will share ideas for physics activities that can be used on year 6 induction days.
You will be able to develop solutions, drawing on the expertise within the group and find out about the support provided by STEM Learning in the local area.

Outcomes
- You will have a greater awareness of progression in physics topics from key stage 2 to key stage 3.
- You will have increased confidence in identifying and addressing common misconceptions in key stage 3 physics.
- You will have experienced a range of different practicals and demonstrations suitable for diagnosing and addressing misconceptions.
- You will have experienced physics activities that could be used on a year 6 induction day.
- You will have the opportunity to network with other local physics teachers and coaches.
