Summary

The South West Institute for Teaching invites all Science Heads of department and aspiring heads of department to attend this event and network with Science colleagues from across the county. After the success of our first face to face event (since the COVID-19 pandemic) in the Autumn term, working with the Science Learning Partnership, we have expanded our offer and are running face to face meetings in Plymouth, Exeter and Taunton venues. These meetings will join together virtually for small sessions on input, followed by localised face to face breakout sessions to consider the implications for practice.

This meeting will take place on Thursday 23rd March 2023 from 14:30-16:00pm with refreshments being provided from 14:00pm and an opportunity for networking with other delegates.

By popular request, the foci of this session will be Johnstone's triangle and using booklets effectively in Science lessons. Tonicha Davies (SWIFT Science Professional Community Lead) and Nik Rorke and Claire Buckler (Science Learning Partnership) will be leading the event. Please see attached agenda.

The Ofsted Science report has now been published and there will also be an opportunity to reflect on this and consider implications for own departments. Please do have a look through this prior to the meeting and think about anything that you would like to discuss/get help with for your own setting. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/subject-report-series-science
