Summary

Join us for a development day with Amanda Clegg and Karen Collins.

Workshops will include:

Sequencing disciplinary knowledge (2 hours)

Recent examination reports highlight the struggle students have in translating their understanding of practical work to examination questions. This session will explore how to make best use of the curriculum to develop learners disciplinary and procedural knowledge over time. We will consider the assessment of progress in day to day practical activities throughout KS3, to enable students to access required practical work at GCSE and KS5.

Please bring with you:  student worksheet/PowerPoint and any additional teacher support material for a Year 8 practical activity. This will form part of the session.

Developing graphing skills (1 hour)

Have you ever asked  yourself why can’t students draw graphs? Are you working harder than your students? This session will highlight the issues associated with graph drawing and interpretation, provide simple solutions to takeaway and bring about success.

Improving data evaluation (1 hour)

Can your students use the terminology accuracy, precision, repeatability and reproducibility with confidence? This session will highlight the issues and provide simple solutions to take away.
