Summary

Welcome to the summer term's heads of secondary science development day for heads of science in Coventry and Warwickshire.

David Shakespeare and Chris Catto will be running the day and it will include workshops on:

Preparing pupils for the GCSE assessment of practical skills

Description:      Approaches to preparing learners for questions involving GCSE ‘Working Scientifically’, apparatus and techniques, and the ‘core/required’ practicals – including AO1, AO2 and AO3 in this context

Disciplinary literacy in KS3 and GCSE science - from keywords to extended responses

Description:      Best-practice, practical approaches known to work well in science - from using keywords and building sentences, to reading and understanding exam questions, and developing structured extended answers (esp. around AO2/3 and core practicals).

Plus opportunities to share best practice and discuss developments with fellow heads of science.
