This workshop will explore and compare the approaches taken by different departments and allow you to reflect on your current practice and develop next steps.

Session – Assessment workshop – 75-90mins
Having designed a great curriculum how do you know it is allowing pupils know and understand more about science? Moving from quick quizzes to detailed understanding of where pupils are struggling how can assessment support learning and balance workload?
This workshop will explore possible assessment strategies and tools that can support effective assessment models in science departments.

By the end of the session you will have:
Shared and reflected on current assessment practice in science departments
Identified approaches from research that can support assessment in science
Identified your teams next steps for development of their assessment practice
Session – Progression workshop – 75-90mins
Creating a progress culture, how do your pupils/staff and leadership teams view progress in science? This workshop will reflect on your understanding of progress in science, what does knowing and understanding more look like and then how to develop this with your science team (pupils/parents and staff)
Outcomes:
By the end of the session you will have:
Reflected on the progress culture in your department
Identified how your approach can impact on teaching strategies and pupils outcomes
Evaluated next steps to develop a progress culture in your team
