Summary

The blended learning course supports non-specialist teachers of physics to develop their subject knowledge and pedagogical approaches for teaching electricity at Key Stages 3 and 4.

Learning takes place both through online content and two face-to-face sessions. This is supported by online tutorials over an 8 -week period

Topics covered are static electricity, current electricity, series and parallel circuits, magnetism, electromagnetism and mathematical and practical approaches to teaching electricity.

How will you learn?

This  is a blended learning course which   consists of 1.5 face to face practical days, 2 x 1 hour online tutorial and supporting asynchronous content on the Open Learn Create platform

 

How long is this course?

8 weeks

Outcomes

The SKPT blended learning CPD will:

  • develop teaching skills and confidence in delivering lessons that bring physics to life in the classroom.
  • consider mathematical problem solving, conceptual challenges, practical work and pedagogical reflections.
  • link teachers to a supportive learning network led by experienced physics practitioners.

This course is not available for teachers at independent or fee-paying schools.
